An intimate portrait of Robin Williams and his invulnerable spirit, Robin’s Wish is the story of what really happened to one of the greatest entertainers of all time – and what his mind was fighting.

The film chronicles Robin Williams’s silent and misdiagnosed battle with Lewy Body dementia while the score attempts to characterize the incongruencies between his publicly projected self and his inner disquiet.

As much as Robin Williams was publicly bombastic, his battle was quiet and fragile. The score plays with that incongruity by deploying a brass duo (horns, trombones) in an atypical way.

These instruments usually bring the fanfare or usher in the clowns, however, the score needed to be fragile, honest, and on the edge of speaking.

In collaboration with the musicians, we developed a specific somatic extended technique where they played as quietly as possible, on the edge of speaking, honest, and frail.
