What begins as a seemingly impossible scheme evolves into a profound cultural journey.
Synopsis
What begins as a seemingly impossible scheme evolves into a profound cultural journey. Directed by Matthew Conrad, The Soccermen follows two English students with no formal coaching experience who travel to the Pacific island of Pohnpei to coach what was once described as the worst national soccer team in the world. Their ambitious goal is simple: help the team achieve its first-ever victory. As the project unfolds, the film becomes an exploration of cultural exchange, personal growth, and the ability of sport to unite communities across geographic and social boundaries. Through humor, perseverance, and unexpected human connection, soccer becomes a bridge between British and Micronesian cultures and a vehicle for overcoming emotional barriers.
